On 16th May 2019, LTWP’s Winds of Change (WoC) Foundation and Stanbic Bank Kenya flagged off a food aid donation headed to Laisamis, Marsabit County. The donation was received by the WoC team at the LTWP project site who coordinated with the community liaison officers and political administrative units to identify potential beneficiaries of the food aid.
Two administrative units, Laisamis Sub County and Loiyangalani Sub County, were identified as distribution centers for the donation. On 27thMay 2018, the WoC team members delivered a part of the donation to the Laisamis Sub County offices where the deputy county commissioner Mr. Dickson Mutua was present to receive it. On 28thMay 2019, the WoC team delivered the rest of the donation to Loiyangalani Sub County Offices where the Division Officer Mutua Njeru received the donation on behalf of the County Commissioner.
Both administrative offices are to serve as holding and distribution points as the donations are further distributed to vulnerable members of the community most adversely affected by the drought. These include the young, elderly, orphans among other special interest groups.
