Job title: Deputy Maintenance Engineer

Duty Station: Project Site – Marsabit County
This job aims to coordinate all maintenance activities carried out by the department and with the Camps contractor(s). The job holder will ensure adequate spare parts and related consumables are in stock, and proper resource availability to carry out preventative and reactive maintenance activities at the various locations on site. He is expected to oversee contractor work plans and ensure operations are carried out safely, timely and to proper standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise routine maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of electrical systems, including generators, transformers, switchgear, and electrical distribution networks.
- Conduct regular inspections of mechanical and electrical systems to identify potential issues and perform preventative maintenance.
- Supervise troubleshooting and repair plumbing systems, including pipes, pumps, valves, water treatment systems and sewerage systems.
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks and projects
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules and programs to optimize equipment performance and extend lifespan.
- Conduct safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, spare parts inventory equipment logs ensuring quality.
- Participate in emergency response situations to minimize downtime and ensure safe operation of the wind farm.
- Provide technical support to other teams as needed.
- To support the behaviour of working as LTWP, sharing best practice, and collaborating with colleagues outside of own sphere of business.
- To ensure full participation in the Performance Appraisal Review (PAR) process and maintain an up-to-date record of all training and development activities/programs.

- Any other duties deemed necessary and relevant by the management in the smooth running of the Wind Farm Site operations

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil /Building construction or related field
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in maintenance engineering or a related field
- Experience in the renewable energy or hospitality industries preferred
- Conversant with electrical systems, including generators, transformers, switchgear and electrical distribution networks
- Conversant with HVAC systems and professional kitchen equipment.
- Conversant with plumbing systems, including pipes, pumps, valves, water treatment systems and sewerage systems
- Familiar with bore holes technology/underground water systems
- Conversant with best industry and HSE practices
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment with limited supervision and be able to deliver under pressure
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Strong administration skills required for planning and executing all tasks ensuring timely submission of all required reports.
- Able to control stock usage, quality and stocking
- Able to manage service level agreements (SLAs) with respective service providers
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
- Valid driver’s license
- Computer literate with strong reporting/presentation skills
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Project (Project Management software).
