LTWP was proud to be a participating partner in the 2023 Lake Turkana Cultural Festival held in Marsabit, Kenya. The festival, which was initiated in 2008 by the local communities residing within Loiyangalani, brought 15 communities together, who got to showcase and celebrate their diverse and rich cultures over a 3 day period.
Attracting local, regional and international attendants, the festival has become a landmark event for the community and has helped drive cohesion, tourism and cultural acceptance in the region, all of which are instrumental for socioeconomic growth. The 2023 festival was no different. In attendance were myriads of people drawn from various areas and ranks, including H.E. Dr. William Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya.
During the three day event, our Community Liaison Officers actively supported with the rollout of the festival activities and took time to address concerns and queries from members of the community. We were also honored to have President Ruto visit our stand and directly engage with our team.
The festival was held from 23rd to 25th November 2023 with the theme; “Celebrating Cultural Diversity for Sustainable Peace.”, which tied into the festival’s goal to promote integration, cohesion and peace building among the communities of Marsabit County.
In attendance was National Government officials, County Government officials, Ministers, Chief Officers, MCAs, MPs, Governor Marsabit County, Women Representative Marsabit County, DCCs, ACCs Chiefs and community members.
LTWP believes in fostering a harmonious relationship with the community through continuous dialogue, participation and community development. To this end, we take an active role in community-based activities that support local growth and development.
