Lake Turkana Wind Power (LTWP) has received the Sustainability Report of the Year Award 2025 from Sustainability Brands Awards.
This significant recognition was presented at a landmark event in Nairobi, Kenya, to celebrate brands that balance People, Planet, and Profit, uniting Kenya’s eco-warriors under the theme, “Sustainability, Trade, and Brands: Scaling Africa’s Green Prosperity with Kenya at the Helm.”
This award recognizes our exceptional impact and commitment to people, planet and prosperity. Our 2024 Sustainability Report was recognised for its excellence in quality, transparency, and impact, ensuring compliance with established frameworks, fostering trust, and driving innovation.
Our 2024 report showcased LTWP’s substantial contributions to Kenya’s energy security. In the reporting period, we generated 1,367 gigawatt-hours of electricity, accounting for 10.89 per cent of the national grid’s total power supply. This effort led to a reduction of 574,547 tonnes of CO2 emissions. The report also highlighted our extensive socio-economic development initiatives in Laisamis, Marsabit County.
Felix Rottmann, our ESG Manager, stated, “This award validates our strategic approach to transparently communicate our environmental, social, and governance performance. It underscores our team’s dedication to operational excellence and our commitment to sustainable development in Kenya. We believe robust reporting is fundamental to accountability and driving continuous improvement.”
The judging panel also commended our creative communication strategies, including the “Turbines of Marsabit” podcast, which effectively documented LTWP’s history and impact for diverse audiences.
